Looks like I might have to update my materialism page: Tag Heuer has released an absolutely revolutionary timepiece, the Monaco V4, that uses a linear weight for its automatic winding and features a belt-driven movement. Amazing.
There's a spiffy computer-generated video that introduces the watch (in the context of other great evolutions) and flies the viewer through the insides of this watch. No word on pricing yet, but it does appear that the watch will indeed go into production. and will hit the stores about six months from now.
The nuts at Tag Heuer actually made a scale mock-up of the watch that is 1.5 meters in length. Some estimate that it weighs about six tons.
Thanks to Jason for sending us this story.
