Pushrod V8 Circa 2010: The GM LS3

I've got a soft spot for the aluminum pushrod V8 engine as evidenced by my LSX-based RX7 project car. In my formative years I had never been impressed with the engineering of these monster motors, preferring high-revving small-displacement powerplants instead. But as I researched the GM development program it became obvious that a lot of engineering work has gone into the small block lineage--even if they don't have dual overhead cams or 8,500 RPM redlines. This technical overview of the LS3 architecture does a wonderful job of showing the refinement of the pushrod V8 layout.
