After watching a trailer for Clint Eastwood's new movie Invictus I learned that the title of the film is taken from a William Ernest Henley poem of the same name. The key lines of the poem are:
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
It's a moving poem in its entirety, but after reading a bit more it seems like the poem has inspired those from all walks of life including John McCain and Timothy McVeigh.
I guess that should come as no surprise. Poem that inspire or capture our resolve are truly universal.
