Curiosity on Mars

I wanted to congratulate the engineers of NASA, JPL, and their partners on the audacious and successful landing of the latest mission to Mars. The rover, Curiosity, came online late last night after the most technically amazing landing sequence ever conceived. This was essentially a $2.5 billion gamble by NASA, and they came up big. They should all be congratulated.

Little known fact: the asymmetrical tread pattern on the rover's tires spell out "JPL" in Morse code as the vehicle moves along. (This was not know to NASA, apparently, until after the rover was launched.) This means that the clever engineers at JPL are tagging the hell out of the red planet. Nice work.
