New Tools in the War on Privacy

Mr. Leach sends us a link to a new acquisition by Network Associates that allows companies (or your local government officers) to log and analyze complete network streams at "gigabit speeds" essentially recording every little thing that happens on the network. This can be used to, among other things, read emails, instant messages, or other communications without any knowledge of the user. Users who care about their fourth amendment rights should make sure that they are familiar with encryption for email, disk and instant messaging. Just because your employer or FBI tail feels they should have access to everything you do doesn't mean you have to make it easy for them to do so.
